Good luck for the birth, is it the first? From what I have read the baby should be ok even if it gets corona and the mum can still breastfeed even if they have it, just wear a face mask so the baby doesn’t get virus overload and keep washing hands. If it’s the first I would be aware about the difficulties there may be with breastfeeding as this will be really important to combat any viruses. It would be good to get info on lactation consultants etc who you could phone up as midwifes don’t seem to have enough time to really help if you do have trouble. This is coming from my own experience which wasn’t great I’m sure you will be fine. I’m not due till August but I’m still worried about it.
I don’t get it... and I’m definitely missing something. But I keep wondering this so I am going to ask. Why would hospital admissions go up and deaths go up if all the vulnerable people (or the greater proportion of them) are vaccinated? I thought the vaccines were all pretty reliably preventing deaths if not total protection from getting the virus. Or is it pretty certain that a variant will mean the vaccines won’t work? Or will just so many people get the virus the tiny percentage of young/healthy people that die will become significant?
