Dibs on the Look Carbon pedals. PM Sent.
I tried cycling from London to Whitstable today, only to be stopped by the police around 25km into the ride after I crossed the Blackwall Tunnel. Thankfully, they understood that it was an unintended error and did not impose any fine. I was under the impression that cycling is permitted on A roads. I had plotted my route map using ridewithgps.
I've now found some routes made by other users on the website but I'm not sure if these routes have any issues with cycling (road condition, cycling permitted etc). If anyone here has cycled from London to Whitstable, kindly give me the link to your ride so that I can load your gpx file in my garmin. I'm planning to do the ride again on Friday. I'm using a road bike, so I would prefer no/little off roading.
I've found this route on ridewithGPS-
Planning to ride London to Cambridge and back tomorrow morning. If anyone here is interested, I would love some company.
Rough schedule- leave from Victoria Park around 7.15am. Easy paced around 3.5-4 hours to Cambridge, grab a quick bite there and head back to London. Anyone interested in joining, just drop me a message.
I work as a securities lawyer, advising capital market regulators.
3w/kg should be quite doable. I used to race at the national level in India pushing north of 4w/kg (4.6w/kg is more than sufficient to win the national championship in India) but I suffered a traffic accident last year and am just working my way back to a respectable spot on the watt/kg chart.
Would love to join any groups to train and ride with.
@cgg that would be great. Will drop you a message in your inbox
@Pifko I've just arrived in London last month. I took a British cycling licence and the audax UK membership. I'm yet to join any clubs. I stay at E2. I'm not aware of the clubs that are nearest to me.
I looked at the route profile and it looks really flat which is tempting me to give it a shot on my TT bike (Giant Trinity) but I have no idea about the wind on this route. Does anyone here have any experience or insight about this?
Otherwise I'll just do it on my road bike.
Are we allowed to draft behind/with fellow cyclists who are participating in the race?
@hippy I went through the link but I couldn't find any audax events around London for the next 3 months.
Alternatively, if any long distance cyclists here are planning long rides, starting or ending around London, I'd like to join if possible.
