Any Mac users tried the beta for the Canon Webcam Utility or similar software from another camera manufacturer? If so is the visual/audio delay very noticeable? My wife wants to upgrade her setup for her live Zoom yoga classes (she currently uses the rear camera on her iPhone with a little HDMI adapter connected to the TV so she can see everyone) but doesn't want to drive her students crazy with obvious lag between her movement and speech. There's also the option of getting a capture card like a Cam Link but Elgato's recommended specs seem like her 2013 MacBook Pro would struggle a lot.

My brother wants to drive down to see my parents next weekend, or at least my mum - she's been on her own in the house for a while as my dad has been diagnosed with cancer and has been in hospital having radiotherapy. We can probably both get out of work at the office next week (I only normally do 1 day there just to send post but can tell them I need to be off the rota) so we'd have about a week to isolate in our respective houses. I can't tell if it's worth the risk though; she could probably do with some support right now and we might even get to see my dad if they move him to rehab as planned but I still get paranoid about worst possible outcomes.

I really need to dig through my old games at my parents' place when it's possible to visit, because I owned Tombi on PS1 and it goes for truly silly money on eBay now. If I could sell it I'd be most of the way to buying a Mega SG from Analogue and I could take home all my Mega Drive games and easily play them on a modern TV.
I have asked my mum though and she always gets vague about where they keep the games so I'm a bit worried she gave them all to Oxfam or something.

Cheers, think that's actually doable on my lunch break and I can pick up a sandwich to take back as well.

Is there anywhere within easy walking distance of St Leonard's hospital in Hoxton where I can get a coffee that's better than 'not bad'? I've been working here a while and the best I've had is probably Moko Made with their personal blend from Vagabond, but not much else (Ello Darling's little Piaggio setup near the station was also a nice novelty but they're understandably MIA). Sorry if I've asked this before, I've just been back at the office for a few weeks and I'm craving espresso-based drinks.

Someone else pointed out to me as well that iPhones require you to create and manage more accounts, whereas you can just have your one Google account for everything on Android so the latter seems less daunting. Also my dad reminded me that he bought her a Nexus tablet years ago on my recommendation and she seemed to be OK with setting that up for watching things in bed so it's not like she's totally new to Android.

Oh yeah, and my brother and I did get her a new 3310 when it released a few years ago but I let my bro buy it and he decided to save money and get it on eBay. Naturally it turned out to be a Chinese fake and didn't work properly, so I decided not to get her another one and be like 'this one will work, promise!'

I was thinking I couldn't get her another brick phone because she was switching to a 3-based network with no 2G signal, but she texted me last night and it turns out she's not and her network is EE-based so I got her a Nokia 5310 for now (the 105 is fine but the buttons are a bit smaller).
She has spoken about eventually wanting a smartphone though so I was hoping I could just immediately get her started on one but that might take a little while. I've only ever used Android so would be inclined to recommend that but now my wife is saying she thinks iOS is easier for a complete newbie and that I should get a refurbished iPhone, but tbh I find Apple people always say that sort of thing. The other alternative is to eventually get a slightly more capable KaiOS phone so she can at least use WhatsApp.

    This was my mum's phone.

Discontinued in 2003! Will probably go Nokia or Moto; I guess I'm not totally averse to second hand but would prefer to buy new in case she really hates it and I have to make a return. The Moto E series may be enough because she just needs it for calls and messages and maybe researching crossword clues. Would be good to have her on WhatsApp as she is a bit obsessive about not going over the character limit with SMS and I get weirdly curtailed messages sometimes.

Actually I just remembered that Xiaomi do the thing of leaving their own duplicate apps on their phones even though non-China markets have access to the Play Store and Google's own apps off the bat, so maybe I'll avoid that confusion for her and stick to vanilla Android.
