I'm doing exactly this in April. Quick and easy Eurostar to Paris, change in Paris direct TGV to Girona. Door to door will be about the same time as flying, albeit more expensive.

For balance, 6 months ago we had to provide a tonne of old bank data to our solicitor explaining any transactions over 5k for the past 5 years on all of our 5+ bank accounts. It was a major ball ache and felt very invasive. I'm not a criminal/drug dealer/always been UK resident and have a very dull and steady job for ref so there should have been no grounds for it.

At the end of the day the solicitor has to prove that youre legit if theyre challenged in the future, its on their head if they hadn't done enough background checking. I wouldn't think into it too much, it probably indicates that you have a good solicitor if anything.

This sounds like the standard snakeoil salesman technique to me. We have a cream for what ails you!

It may not be 300 tanks as requested, but 50 Leopards as well as 15 Challengers is a pretty massive power injection considering each modern western tank is worth several of Russia's old rubbish in battle.

They are also getting 50 Bradley fighting vehicles from the US which are just as good at killing old Russian tanks, as discovered during the Iraq war. It's in essence 130+ tanks in practice.

Agreed, things hadn't been as value engineered back then and other things like ethics and religion featured more highly as it was pioneering single individuals who were the developers in those days, not corporations whose key concerns are their shareholders. I live in a Victorian estate built by a philanthropist Quaker for example who was tightly governed by his ethics and beliefs - the houses are very high quality.

Although I guess this may be different in other places that were dominated by heavy industries- like workers cottages in the valleys owned by coal mines.

How long ago did you buy it? If you’re still within time, just get a return.

If not, suck it up and accept the risk, it may well be fine and nothing will happen. It’s an old bike, there’s always a risk. But it’s not as if you’ll be racing downhill in the Alps on this thing right?

Is that just how much stuff costs these days?

Yes if youre buying the top level 8 Series Bosch stuff. Their mid-high Series 6 stuff is still really good. We've had a set of that delivered and I honestly couldn't fault it, feels and looks quality (it's still expensive) with 90% of the function of the 8 Series stuff.

Yeah, roads were fine this morning. Took it carefully on the corners and had no trouble getting in. Still quite a few other riders.
