Yeh that kind of sucks, because mine is from 2000 so also quite recent !
But i cant find too many online so i doubt they were produced in a large quantity... but i guess i'll never know :'(

She's great ! I have tried contacting other companies before with no results, so its refreshing to get someone who is happy to talk and try to help out !

A small update from Lara, i guess the official Somec research stops here. But i have the OG name of the dealer who imported the frame. Apparently my frame was featured in a magazine at some point but i and the previous owner havent found the magazine yet...

we built many Sirius frames, almost all of the them where custom built. Also the famous, sadly passed away, actor Robin Williams ordered one of them, recently sold at an auction.
Having no more the complete records office of the past I cannot inform you about the quantity of Sirius we built.

A quick update as i did get a great and welcoming answer from Lara on my somec sirius :

Your Somec Sirius is really in very good condition. Thanks to the code
you gave me I can tell you it is a frame built on 23 mai 2000 for a
shop in Paris called cycles Boittelle, now it exist no more.

It adds a shop before the shop "velo futur" where the guy i got it from told me he had purchased it in 2002.
However a build year of 2000 means it was earlier than i thought.

I am going to carry on and hopefully find out some more about the number os Sirius frames produced and maybe more !

Oh cool so there is some tracability. I know mine is quite a limited and recent series, from 2002.. so i am hopeful to get something.
But 2 positive reviews is good enough for me to give it a go !

I'll post feedback if i get any info as there is basically no info on Sirius framesets on the internet i can find apart from the odd sale. (One of which is a double 650 from Robin Williams collection RIP)

Ok good to know i will send them a message and see what i get back.
I wouldnt be surprised if they referred me to the catalogues which i have downloaded and scrutinized already ! But yeah just in the hope that i may get a tad more info i will give it a go!

So just a quickie ; Has anyone ever reached out to Somec to try and get any info vis à vis serial numbers, frame dates etc ?
I am having a hard time finding stuff on my Sirius and was wondering if they were the kind of company thats likes receiving the odd email or if they were the kind that just ignore.

Yes it could help you identify frame builder or series etc always a good place to start. You dont always find an answer with the codes but you may find it corresponds to a certain builder or something.

So it is indeed similar to the Somec i have, both in Altec 2. I know the somec always had internal cable routing for rear break from 1999-2002 (full production years from what i have found).

Are there any codes on the bb shell ? I think some carreras were out sourced, and its possible that this could be a full custom job painted to match team colors or something.
Whoever made it it seems to be good quality with nice welding on the bb.
Shame about the extreme chimney !

Similar but not quite as nice ;)

@Lav75 Its very probable that it is what it says on the tin so to speak. Alot of companies made this type of aero frame in the late nineties and early 2000s.
Not sure on the tubing for this Carrera ? Is that a Dedaccai sticker maybe.. Or just a "aluminium 7051" type sticker.
It's nice though, cinelli angel bars, and i love the seat post !
