  • Soon, we'll be able to meet up and cycle together in a group of more than 6.
Gather in (The Glory that is ) Ruislip, for a curated trip to see the damage caused by HS2 to Ruislip and Harefield. Marvel at the concrete segment factory built just inside the M25. We can see a bit more of the Chilterns, (Bluebells!).

Date: Well let's see if that R number continues to fall, but soon.

    2021 05 03: teaser photo added.
'I can remember when all this were golf course' he grumbled in Northern.

  • In like Flynn

  • You'll get a special badge for being the 1st sign up.

  • Ruislip is really not my ends, but I am fascinated by your in-depth local knowledge.

  • My last forum ride was probably meandering around rickmansworth, so this would make a nice bookend!

  • Apologies for missing your kind comment when it was fresh.
Any ingrained opinion masquerading as local knowledge is based upon being a long term resident of TGTi Ruislip.
(Essentially never escaped after graduating into Thatcher's first recession and having no option but to return to parental home).

  • Likewise your comment escaped me.

You will be most welcome to acquaint yourself with TGTi Ruislip.

  • Welcome also to @1adnaan1.

  • Thanks @mespilus - I'm watford based when in country, so local to me.

  • Indeed, just up the road, past HMS Warrior.

  • Are these rides fast(er) or more party-paced? I might invite the partner.

  • Some have resorted to fairinged recumbents to keep up with the peleton.

  • Given we will be using bridlepaths in a National Nature Reserve,
a footpath with a kissing gate to prevent mopeds/motorbikes gaining (easy) access, and stopping to admire views and items of Natural Science interest,
this will be the definition of a social ride.

    Please invite partner goosenoose.

  • Ideal to fixie and elaborate on your HS2 ideas @amey?

  • Sounds like an interesting route, in. How far into the Chilterns did you anticipate going? We live in Tring (adjacent to Wendover where there have been ongoing demonstrations against the destruction of ancient woodland) and would happily host beers and pizza.

  • If you guys want to experience the ravages of HS2 infrastructure (and how alot of the sites are hidden away - I suspect not to attract protest, check out kings lane which runs adjacent to the A413 just south of Wendover - single track road which has been used to death by infrastructure then a hidden HS2 tunnel site there). Currently injured but also here to support the struggle against HS2
