I've never done this one so I want to try it. 31 miles and some hills in lovely Hertfordshire.
Hemel Hempstead features a magic roundabout not far from the station, but not on the route. Though I'm sure a spin could be arranged if people were up for it.
Trains out 1905 from Euston, arrives at 1936.
Returns throughout the evening, last train 0025.
The return ticket is £14.6 so a big enough crowd for a groupsave would be great!
And someone needs to think about the fig rolls, of course.
Watching the plucky Belgians prick the hubris of Ingerland after the overinflation gained from the drubbing of World Cup football's equivalent of Accrington Stanley:
Has this route been "retitled" due to the events in recent history?
Not sure what you mean? The magic roundabout thing is jus a silly idea from me :)
Ah not the magic roundabout - although very cool idea as I'd only do that at gone 11pm. Historically this route was called Hemel Fix It, after Jimmy Saville's TV programme. This was obviously before the public knew about his horrendous crimes.
After typing that out yes the route should definitely leave its old name behind.
The route was originally titled "Hemel-fix-it" which at the time seemed to be a fun and charming nod to an old childhood favourite off of the telly.
Oh, I see, thanks for the explanation.
Also it looks like we've unlocked the groupsave?
We'll probably have to rename it again in 10 years time when it turns out Zebedee was a serial womaniser. He always looked dodgy to me.
Dang, I'm pretty sure I'm out, for more than one reason..
Football and Babysitting and Riding to Brighton out:
I know it's a young England team but this is a stretch.
ok, ok I've added another real reason..
The temptation to ride from the Old Street 'magic roundabout' to the Hemel magic roundabout is strong but, fuck ever cycling west outta London in rush hour traffic.
In, but gonna see how adventurous i feel on Thurs for either train or ride out
If I can find someone to cover my on-call for a night I'll be riding out from Aldgate at 5pm sharp
Work is not going well. Not sure I'm going to be able to make this tonight :(((
Ha, sorry to hear. Hopefully you'll pull out of it. Keep us posted!
I don't think I've ever been to Euston station, what's a good meeting point there?
Cover has been arranged
Outside the ticket office is probably the best place to meet. It's on the left as you enter the concourse.
Riding out too
Hope you come right YAL
Yep today is not my day. Might attempt some RP circles but my brain is too fried to be riding at night, I need to be in bed early.
FWIW I will not be watching the football out of respect for the cog.
That's rubbish...Enjoy some quiet laps.
I'm sat on the grass behind the cider tap house if anyone else is milling around killing time.
