I would normally be up for this kind of thing but I fear I will still be making my way from Belgium to Turkey in this year's TCR...

I got an email inviting me to this also. No idea why. Methinks they could be struggling to fill it.

There's been over 60 applications actually. It's going to be really tough to get a space unless you've got something different to offer e.g. fixed team, all-female team or as one team are planning...two tandems! Or failing that, a really puntastic team name.

RAPHA PRESTIGE WEST COUNTRY
SATURDAY 13TH AUGUST
You’re invited to participate in the Rapha Prestige West Country. A Rapha Prestige is not a race; it’s an unsupported, unsanctioned and unmarshalled adventure across stunning terrain, designed to bring out the camaraderie and suffering of road riding.
On Saturday 13th August, up to 30 teams of four riders will embark on a 110 mile adventure, passing through the rolling terrain of south western England. The ride, though filled with beauty, is guaranteed to challenge the toughest of teams.
Submit your team before Monday 11th July to apply to ride. The route will be revealed to confirmed participants 48 hours before the ride.
So that is what I have received, I'm assuming that this is a closed, for-fun, event similar to the London-Brighton-London team time-trial that happened a few years ago.
I'm not so silly to suggest I'll ride in the team, to say there are rolling hills in the South West is to underestimate the Cotswolds... but if a team of four wants to come together to represent LFGSS then we have the opportunity.
It would of course be seriously impressive if the ride was done fixed or single-speed... that's definitely part of the reason the invite is extended, for the fun to embrace the diverse cycle communities. But no-one needs to, there's no requirement for it. Gears can be used (especially if you're keen on going for the best time).
Anyone interested in riding in a team of 4? @hippy @6pt ?
