Fabrica Film Club and High and Over present...
Belleville Rendez-Vous (2003, 78mins, Subtitled, Rated 12)
Doors & Bar 7.30pm, event starts 8pm.
In the run up to Bicycle Film Festival Brighton 2016 Fabrica have teamed up with High & Over to screen this much-loved animation by Sylvain Chomet.
The film tells the story of Madame Souza, an elderly woman who instills in her grandson, Champion, a love of cycling. While Champion is competing in the Tour de France he and two of his fellow competitors are kidnapped by hoods who want to use the threesome's unique skills for nefarious purposes.
With overweight and faithful pet dog Bruno at her side, Madame Souza goes looking for Champion. Their trek takes them overseas to the town of Belleville where they are befriended and taken in by three eccentric elderly women who were once the renowned jazz singing group The Triplets of Belleville.
If you’ve seen the film before you’ll know exactly how wonderful it is and will no doubt want to see it again. If you’re new to it then grab a ticket while you have the chance and take advantage of a great way to start the summer in Brighton.
