Oh I should have given more details about the cafe - it's the Dairy Cafe, part of Franklin's Farm. They claim to be dog and cyclist friendly! Let's just hope it has some kind of heating.
I've also tweaked the route to include the cafe. If any of you spot any clangers on the route do let me know. Quite a few unknown roads for me, especially the middle 30 miles from Royston to just south of Shefford, and then the last ~10 miles.

Route looks great, looking forward to it!

Route looks great! Very pampered of you to expect heating @youramericanlover
@Glws I’m feeling the holiday laziness still, so I’ll probably just train out. Not very nice direct ways out either

As a 10 y + n7 resident, I can certify a couple of nice routes to follow, especially at this hour

Can't wait, been checking weather forecast repeatedly already since Monday. Looking good, fingers crossed. Don't want to jinx it, like that time I said I was thinking of taking sunglasses before that one where it rained the whole day, a few degrees above freezing.

Wow I really know how to show you a good time!
But yeah it doesn't have to be great, it just needs to be safe. Fingers crossed for reasonable roads.

I wanted to get a three hour ride in today as preparation for this, but my only window was between 6-9 am. Managed 45 minutes before I turned round and headed back home.
So I'm under done. Let's hope not too under done.

Out in towards Epping on a ride in the hope of making it next week. Currently had to stop for coffee only 10 miles in. Not looking too promising I'll get enough miles in to be ready. Will have to see

Can't get the bastard front mudguard on, not enough clearance between the fork crown and the tyre, so I may either be mudguard free or just have a rear one (if I can get over the aesthetics).
-
• #41
I'd also forgotten how much I absolutely hate fitting mudguards.
-
• #42
Its looks quite dry all week so you could get away with no mudguards
-
• #43
The rear is on, and currently free of tyre rub, so I’ll leave it on for now and decide closer to Saturday.

I hope to see you all on Saturday.
Possibly at the lunch stop, but I will have camera, tools, a few spares and the Trophy.
YAL will have my phone number in case I can help.
Chris.

Family issues and consequent childcare issues means I'll no longer be able to make this as I have to look after my daughter solo. A shame as I had decided to come and was looking forward to it. Have a great ride all

Even on the moon they are fender-faffing to make it on the 18th.

Silver gaffer tape and a cut-up plastic milk carton. More proof the moon landings were fake!
Chod speed everyone. Missing this one again but the weather looks fair and the ride looks tough. Enjoy!

Right, I'm as ready as I can be for this. Is there a What's App group I need to be part of?

I'd just message here on good old lfgss.com if any problems.
I'll be training it on the Liverpool St 7:58.
Yeah as always we'll take a view on the day to see if it's a safe ride or not. Hopefully it's above ice weather (although I know we've occasionally pushed the limits in the past...)
