Watching Keirin in Japan

Posted on
  • Hey,
I'm visiting Japan in May and would love to go watch some Keirin racing. Place a few bets, have a few beerus. Also to try and get some rare NJS stuff (tubular covers)...
Has anyone done this and can give some advice?

Haven't decided where I'm visiting but starting in Tokyo of course and then a few other major cities and maybe some rural spots.
Would like to hear others experience :)

And if there are any cool bike spots I should visit please say!

  • I’d planned to watch some in 2024 visit. Simply didn’t have the time. It seems to go on all day. This was the website given to me by Joe Truman’s dad as the place to go for info.

  • Thanks! I can just about deciphere some information here, what velodromes exist and what times the racing is on and such.
It does seem like an all day, multiday thing. I didn't realise how many rounds they do for a tourney

  • .

  • Apparently you can meet toshi san from njs-export in shibuya and exchange goods.
The tracks are not busy as most betters watch from home so should be ok to just turn up, it's cheap too.
There's a cherubim shop in Central Tokyo too worth a visit.

  • Apparently entry is in the range of 50 yen for standing/outdoor which is very cheap.

Will be going to a couple of the Blue Lug shops, Grand Bois in Kyoto, Cherubim, hopefully some NJS builders too. If anyone knows any other cool shops let me know.

  • Subbed for list of cool places to borrow..
