Quick Q - with Discord, do the people who run the server not have the same legal responsibility or risk level then? Would discord shoulder all of that in terms of risk of material uploaded (and all the other things encompassed by the online safety bill)?
Intrigued about this as it affects something else I'm involved in, and Discord could be an alternative for that depending on the answer... -

Is it possible / feasible to make some sort of backup of the (microcosm) LFGSS before it shuts down?
Individual threads I mean, not each and every thread / post?

I've now registered on Discord. It is quiet there, but I did find this interesting comment:
"It's a bit unfortunate that Discord has been chosen as the "successor". It is not searchable from the outside. If you don't know that this place exists, you will not find it. Neither can anyone find the content here. I understand why it was chosen though. The whole situation sucks."

It is quiet there,
Naturally, as the forum is still operating.

Not by Velocio. If you mean by the Internet Archive, not much; hopefully not salad-cunt's bigoted old memes (which only stopped a few years back with the very emphatic last-chance threat of banishment).

the Internet Archive
Yeah, it's something, but will obviously be but a shadow of the glory and majesty of today.

Dee did mention they might make available a torrent. Not sure if that's public, public+members, public+members+secretsquirrel forums

My understating is technically yes, but (legally) discord carry that burden.
And they’re very big, with lots of money and lawyers.
Not a one person band.
Nobody’s going to lose their house over a finding/report, but (ultimately) a few shareholders may lose a few bucks. The big drawback of Discord is it’s not externally visible/searchable.

Just joined.
That wasn't an objection, just an explanation of why planning/discussion currently only works slowly there if at all.
