• Called the number purely from curiosity. Basically they had on their books that they owed me £100. They didn't, they replaced a part under warranty.

Just poor record keeping on their part.

They've sent out 4000 of those letters!

  • I’ve had a part replaced in the past as well

  • I got mine

  • This is a real thing. I have had two Planet-X bikes, but I haven't bought anything from UK after Brexit. Germans are making a killing.

  • Looks they’ve redone their logo and website. Prices have gone out of this world, flagship gravel bike is now £4.6k, which is insane even if the SRAM groupset is most of that cost. It was only just this year that their bikes started going over £3k with Campag Ekar, and now you’d think they were made to measure instead of off the peg from the same Taiwanese factory as before.

They’ve done away with the ridiculous legacy outlet/sales, so no more random Campag springs or 99¢ holdsworth bags. Sadly, no more cheap sram shifters or titanium camping kit, for the moment at least.

  • Looks suspiciously like wiggle / CRC design

  • now you’d think they were made to measure

Haha, you clearly haven't bought a custom bike recently.

  • People who think a custom bike is nowhere near £4.6k have more money than sense. (Edit wrong photo)

  • I sell custom bikes for work but yeah sure

  • I presume your bikes are higher quality than a PlanetX and their equivalent custom made.

  • TBF that'll be outsourced to possibly the same Chinese factory as the planet X Ti stuff, they do good work but if you want locally sourced, organic, artisan custom, you'll be paying a bit more.

  • Like a really nice flat white?

  • Custom bikes are just bikes that may or may not turn up in the 3 years after you pay the deposit for them, no?

    OTP ftw

  • Adam at terra is a really nice guy. knows what he is doing.... very good value his framesets

  • I see how my writing might’ve suggested I think the contrary. I don’t, I just meant to illustrate how ridiculous PlanetX prices are, not that e.g. Terra are PlanetX quality.

  • yes - fair enough!

  • If the artisans aren’t grass fed I’m not interested.

  • If contact with artisanally built frames has taught me anything, it's not to buy one. The QC and warranty response just doenst seem to be there

Actually the lesson is to have a mechanic not associated with the frame builder/brand look at the frame before it's built.

  • The QC and warranty response just doenst seem to be there

i share exactly the same (unpopular) opinion as you

  • Having said that. I would buy something from someone like cherubim, everything I hear about Japanese qc is nuts.

  • Am ordering some cheap stuff off them tomorrow and the stuff is still there.

  • In the sales category? Mine returns exactly 3 bikes, and the outlet is empty.

  • In the normal parts bit.

  • I'm quite tempted by a Titus Goldrush though. I think they look great...

  • I was going to order their tri bike.
