Chainring Tooth Number And Chain Length?

Posted on
  • I'm currently running a 48T chainring and a 17T cog on my Steamroller, which with 35mm tyres positions the rear wheel nicely in relationship to the rear brake. My question is, if I replace the 48T chainring with a 46T chainring how much extra length of chain will I gain?

  • 1/4 the difference in circumference x 22/7

  • Thanks Juan!

  • Approx 1/4" I believe

  • Thanks I had it in my head approx 1/8'' per tooth
