There is a threaded outer plate on Izumi chains which the pin threads into then the square nut is like a locknut, the half link chain won’t have a threaded outer plate.

Thanks, I was forgetting the threaded plate on Izumi chains. I guess the only convenient solution then for a half link chain is a standard master link?

The only acceptable solution for a halflink chain is to throw it in the bin. Bent plates straighten out meaning it does actually 'stretch' and much more quickly than a normal chain wears.
You can do anything that a half link chain can do with a single half link in a standard chain. 1 link stretching still aint great but it's a hell of a lot better than every link stretching.

First time using a half link chain and I've come to the conclusion they're just a hassle not worth bothering with. It will go in the bin in the not too distant future!

Can you elaborate on this?
You'd just get a normal chain and add 1 half link to it to fine tune sizing? -

Not any further than you just did.
Does anyone know if the IZUMI chain link pin and bolt,

can be used to join a half link chain?
