• A witness appeal about an incident in which luckily the rider wasn't badly injured, although inevitably bruised and battered:

On November 8, a cyclist overtook a car on his commute home on Endymion Road, Haringey at roughly 6.15pm, the Met Police said.

After overtaking the car as the lights turned green and pulling to the side, the motorist began to rev his engine and beeped at the cyclist.

The driver then rammed the cyclist’s back wheel, grabbed him by the hood before dragging him down the road. The victim eventually fell off his bike but only suffered minor injuries.

It happened around 6:15pm on the 8th November.

The only set of traffic lights in Endymion Road is that outside the entrance to Finsbury Park (as pictured to accompany the article), so it seems to have happened there, and as it was the evening peak hour, most likely northbound in the direction of Wightman Road/Green Lanes. It doesn't sound as if it happened near the junction with Green Lanes.

Anyone with information or dash cam footage is asked to contact the police on 101 or Tweet @MetCC quoting CAD7959/23NOV22.

Alternatively, you can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or visit crimestoppers-uk.org.

Hope the rider can get over the shock and the driver be found.

  • Yes, the police appeal says Hornsey Gate which is by those lights

  • They say it's shocking but I'm not shocked.

  • Thanks, I should have looked up the police page instead of just squinting at the Standard's bad write-up. Unfortunately (broken record time), reporting of collisions has declined significantly since the Standard let so many staff go during the pandemic, and most of the reports I've seen this year have just been edits of the police appeals. I really hope that changes again.
