Probably have something useful, will have a parts bin dive :)

Cheers Rich! Could probably come and collect assuming you still work locally?

Oh yes :)
More news presently -

Hey Martin
So, a bit more limited that I thought…
A Centaur which am pretty sure is a triple (but might be ok?) in very good condition
And what I think is a Croce D’Une double, in pretty fine condition
Any help?
cheers

Hi Rich, thanks a lot for having a rummage. I've had to pause my build as I'm having BB issues (the bottom bracket that came out was a tired Mavic threadless item and my bb shell is chamfered for Mavic specific BBs.)
Need to see if this is reversible before I do any more with it!

• #7
Lol, sounds like all my builds :)

Hmm, and I think the bb chamfer is a one way thing. I’ve had one done and was told it’s all Mavic, all the time, after that decision:(

Apologies for the sort of thread hijack, but I may be interested in the Centaur triple front mech. Is it definitely a triple? If so, how much are you after for it?
Cheers.

Ah, no worries
I’m not sure how to know exactly, but I’ll check the serial number on it when I get home and see if I can work it out
And compare the cage drop with the other triple set-up I have on the Thorn and take a comparison picture
If it is and it works for you, I don’t know, £15 posted to a UK address seem reasonable? -
• #11
That sounds great. Let me know how the comparison goes, but if all seems good, I'll definitely take it off your hands. Thanks.

Right-o
Will get back later -

Right, so there’s no serial numbers on it, but the cage is exactly (apart from a slight difference in the pressing / shape on the inside face of the chain guide) like my Veloce Triple (running 3x9 but it’s an FM so no difference I think?)
The thing is exactly the same size and I’ve tried to catch it in the pictures but it’s quite difficult in a tiny room indoors and so much shiny chrome lol
Does that help?

It’s definitely different from all my Campag double mechs, that’s for certain

I'm happy with that and willing to give it a whirl. Can always sell it on if it doesn't work. I'm out at the moment, but ping me your details via PM and I'll sort out the moolah (and send you my address). Nice one. Thanks.

Older front mech looks like a super record jobby but without the black anodising......
-
• #17
Ah, happy to be corrected, only going on what I bought it / was sold as :)
Does that make it better, thou, if it’s SR? -
• #18
It looks like one of the original SR / NR style braze on mechs from when brazings for front mechs started. Very late 70's to early 80's. The stye is listed on velobase as SR.
They don't crop up that often so quite rare.

In the interests of transparency, also because I find this stuff interesting lol, went and had a look on Velobase just now and it looks like a Nuovo Record, so maybe not so rare - but a quick eBay price-sense check and £20 posted seems ok?
But, but, it’s clearly not the model I’ve listed it as so will message a buyer who pm’d me now to check with them :) -

Hi Rich! Have decided to use a Brian Rourke frame that I have instead of faff around with bottom brackets but thanks anyway. I also found a Xenon braze on front mech in my bag of spares so i'm good for bits for now!
