Picked this up locally a few weeks ago. It's in OK condition. lots of marks and a small dent in top tube that I'm not bothered about.
Plan is for a canti front rack and child seat on the back for full Dad-mode.
I will build up from bits from the bin that I already have and deore level parts.
A few bits have already made it on.
Ordered a matching fast track tyre for the rear.
Whats the function of the extra clamp around the seattube?
Just a cable guide for the rear brake. No idea why they didn't just add a guide on the frame.
Indeed, annoying if misplaced
Definitely. Luckily I was able to find one before bodging my own.
Best ever Kona graphics imo. Great frames but quite low at the front
Are fork/stem stock?
Yeah they look like it.
Lovely color and font type
Yep although they look a different colour to others I’ve seen online.
1 1/8 threaded too.
Exactly what drew me to this one!
Yea I agree. They went a bit tropical after this.
The clamp is the Kona ‘dog collar’
The seatpost should be 27.0 also. Did you cram a 27.2 in there?
That’s the one!
No I had a dodgy AliExpress ‘27.2’ Seatpost in the parts bin that measures 27.0 so it’s a perfect fit. I’ll probably replace with a silver one eventually.
Got these matchy gold deore lx levers
Very cool... love an old school Kona
A few updates
Old deore crankset with cheapo narrow wide ring.
Brakes and gears all cables up, need to sort out a dodgy chainline. Then just waiting on the rack.
