Kinda a mechanic/fixin question right?
Have a silver wald and want it to be black. Also have a sneaky suspicion standard primer than black spray paint isn't really going to last? Do I try it anyway? hmm.
Any one done it before?
The silver one is chromed so it'll need to be stripped first.
You'll throw away a LOT of paint trying to do it with traditional primers and wet spraying.
Powdercoat or anodising is the more robust option but a new Wald basket will cost less than any of the decent refinishing options. Even at a DIY level, a can of primer, a can of paint and a can of clear, plus your time is gonna be close to the price of a basket.
If you know someone having something powdercoated, you could ask to tac your job on and maybe save a bob or two?
yeah that's what I feared! And with that fear I have come to terms with the chrome and don't actually mind it too much anymore. Cheers man!
