I can’t help, but whatever you do don’t pay by direct bank transfer. Unless you have the bike in “your” hands.

Seconded!

That’s not how eBay works any more. You now pay eBay, which can be by PayPal or a debit/credit card and then eBay pays the seller by direct bank transfer into their account. There is no need for the seller to accept PayPal.

It may be dodgy or it may be the seller is new to eBay and doesn’t know the rules (the seller’s profile will give you an idea). The only time to make a direct payment (cash or bank transfer) is when you are collecting the goods. It’s in eBay’s T&Cs. The seller should accept payment via eBay and post the item, assuming the sale included postage.

I’ve just won a bike on eBay from someone in Peterhead, Aberdeenshire. The only downside / potential scam is that they aren’t accepting PayPal and want a direct bank transfer.
Massive long shot, but does anyone live close by and would be willing to assist with the transaction. I would happily pay for someone time / effort.
Thanks in advance.
