Out on the club ride today and we had a few guests along in prep for the Dragon ride and the Fred Whitton. We got a bit split and had to wait a while for the last few to catch up. It seems one of the guests had a spoke nipple that had unscrewed, they’d hand tightened it but knew we were in a village with a bike shop with good mechanics.
In he trotted with his bike and we settled down for a wait while they fixed it. After around 30 minutes we popped in to see how he was doing. He was doing well, he’d spotted a £4.5k Specialized Tarmac that took his fancy (he claims he’s been on the lookout for one). Once he’d convinced the guys in the shop he wasn’t kidding they took his deposit and all that was left was to phone the wife and tell her they had a lovely trip tomorrow into the South Downs to pick up his new bike.
