I currently have an IZUMI track chain (1/8 inch) on my track bike and wanting to take the chain out to give it a deep clean. It is connected via a master link/quick link. Just want to ask all the experts out there:-
can you re-use the quick link/masterlink to re-connect the broken chain? Will it affect the strength/integrity of the chain?
If cannot re-use, are all masterlinks universal? Cannot find any IZUMI masterlinks so can KMC ones work? If not....can anyone direct me to where I can buy IZUMI quick/master links?
Thank you all in advance!
If its njs chain...for the other type links are available on ebay
Is it the type with the spring/clip thing and then you slide off the front plate?
If so definitely can be reused.
If it’s the one where you bend the chain slightly and the front plate comes off then they are meant to single use but I have reused them multiple times with no problem but ymmv.
Don't worry about formatting, just type in the text and we'll take care of making sense of it. We will auto-convert links, and if you put asterisks around words we will make them bold.
