Yeah, I feel you. Funnily enough, the steerer left by Dave is exactly the right height for a Problem Solvers shim. Like millimetre perfect at 49mm.
There are lots of stems that look good with this frame, it's just a matter of me deciding which one I want.
There are several 1" ahead stems available, admittedly not as many as 1 1/8", so "need" of a custom stem is not necessary, but if you're dropping 4k on a custom built frame absolutely nowt wrong with getting a nice custom made stem to top it off.
What are the nice 1" ahead stems? I found one kalloy knock off ages ago, otherwise I found it a massive ballache tracking one down.
Also nice build JB! Looks banging. Sadly I got more emotionally invested in your Seven than you it seems. But guess what? I just bought a 2015 Genesis Equilibrium so SUCK IT
Depends what you call nice? eBay is the best place to look, ITM/Ritchey....
Lots of 1" ahead but not lots of 1" ahead with a 31.8mm clamp....
Not been my experience. Very little 1" ahead about with the right length and angle.
This was quite nice.
Ah yes I saw this elsewhere. Very nice indeed. Joe Bell paint is just great. Looks especially good on stainless!
Oh then you know more about it than I. I just worked on it today and took it for a spin. Stainless was hella nice yeah.
Oh cool. Yeah, I saw it over on the Paceline forum. Not the wheels or finishing kit I'd use but the frame is amazing.
Yeah finishing kit was a bit of an odd one. I reckon they’re stop gap. Something more subtle required. Will ask the guy tomorrow.
The ride surprised me. Very nimble. The fit though, holy shit, like it was made for me.
Yeah, very nimble indeed. The Onesto is designed to ride exactly the same as mine, but is stainless - perfect for England! I think that at 3000GBP as of today, 1250 GBP less than the price of an S-Works Tarmac frameset, these are bargains.
Apples to oranges comparison, but I know which I'd rather have!
