I think the weight stuff has been slightly overblown. I know the difference weight makes us fairly marginal to non racers (I’m sure I recall that 1kg adds 1 minute to a strong rider’s time up Mt Ventoux) and it’s absolutely not the main concern. It’s more psychological and about the feel of the bike. I wouldn’t sweat it excessively and I’ve certainly not ruled the Mason out based purely on grammage.
The Stroma gets some good reviews and can be had for nearly half the price of the Mason. Ritchey Logic is also a solid option for around 1k.
