I'm looking to throw some gears on my old Kona.
I have a rear shimano wheel that had an 8 sp cassette on it previously, so I think I can put 8/9/10 sp on it now? And I have a zee chain set I can put a NW chainring on.
What's the best cheap and reliable option that give me as big a range as possible?
I was going to buy a sunrace cassette.
What rear mech and shifter and what range cassette should I buy?
Deore 10sp might not be the dead cheapest option but it's reliable
I've done cheap 1x using a real mix of Shimano and SRAM gear.
Setup 1 was on flat bars. 3x7 deore LX brifters that I found on a bike dumped in our communal bins. NW chainring off here (hope I think). 7 speed cassette of some.kind (new). Some nice Shimano square taper MTB cranks I got for about £15 off eBay.
Setup 2 is on my pomp (see yesterday's posts from me). SRAM rival 10s cranks (cheap). Some NW ring off here (maybe hope again?). An old 10 cassette I had probably tiagra. Ultegra 10s brifters but the ugly ones with side exit cables. Old 105 mech I had
