  • I bought some of these last summer when the 20/24 hole ones were discounted however now they have all the hole counts (except 24h) reduced to £15

In my opinion they're a good, light wide rim and at this price, outstanding. I've no connection with Spa but have always had good experiences.

  • I second this - built up a set earlier last year and they were easy to build and they've been great.

One thing I would say though is they're very hard to get tyres to seat properly. Even with tubes you need to put soap on the tyre bead and pump up very hard. They're brilliant for the price though.

Agreed, although I find this with every rim that's "tubeless compatible". I haven't resorted to soap - I inflate to 120psi and leave for a few minutes and they tend to pop out into place. Could do with a better solution for the roadside though...

  • Had a roadside mare like that not long ago under the pissing rain 😬 No fun, but made me take the plunge and buy a co2 pump thing, hopefully that might help?

Have looked at those rims as possible guinea pigs for a first home built set of wheels, so it’s good news they get good reviews, though I’d probably not risk going 20/24 for my 80kg frame...

  • I built a 20/24 dynamo/fixed wheelset (I'm 76kg) with these and they've been fine. My first wheels were higher spoke counts but the main advantage is being able to ride them with a broken spoke as they deform less

  • Is the ERD actually 587 as stated on Spa?
