De Rosa Neo Pro (56)

  • Selling this handsome lugged carbon De Rosa from 2010. It’s not a super stiff modern race bike but is fast, light and supremely comfortable. Great for centuries, for example, and you probably could do road races on it but it’s not its forte. It’s been very well looked after. The black matt finish of the frame is flawless and beautiful. It really is stunning to look at and photos don’t quite capture it.

    High end components, including;

    Campagnolo centaur 10 speed
    Fizik Cyrano R3 bars
    FSA Carbon stem
    Fizik Aliante VS saddle
    Campagnolo Eurus clinchers

Pedals not included. Red wall tyres in outdoor photos now replaced with Panaracer Paselas.

£950. This was a v high end bike at the time of production and it’s in near mint condition, apart from some scuffs on the crankset and worn bar tape.

  • £950 for a 10 year old carbon bike 🤣

  • Take it or leave it. I’m not desperate to sell. I just don’t ride it anymore.

  • More recent photo attached. Given feedback I’d let this go for £800 but unwilling to go much lower, as this is an amazing, top end bike in great condition.

  • It is the electrical tape at the end of the bar drop that makes it :)

  • He thinks its in great condition . New bartape and clean the gum wall tyres. Might help sell it .
    And drop the red stuff.
    Will look a lot better.

  • Fair enough. The red stuff’s a bit shit.

If I split, does anyone want some shit red bottle cages?

What makes you think I’m a “he” though?

  • Overall the condition looks good. Who's going to care about some old tape and slightly dirty gum walls if they like the bike. As for the red it's just bottle cages, tape and chainring bolts. No point in shitting on someone's sale thread for those minor things. Glws.

  • I do think the bike will look good when the above minor work is done. GLWS.

  • Makes them feel better about themselves

  • Some obviously think it’s overpriced so I should say a bit more about the bike itself. De Rosa did not produce many of them so it can be hard to find information. They were intended to be De Rosa’s answer to Colnago’s lugged frames, like the C50, but for whatever reason they judged the market wrong and presumably they didn’t sell. The frames were very expensive - as much as the Colnagos - and used some innovative technology that I’m not that interested in to boost compliance. I was not the first owner; he had had it custom made and did not like the ride quality, which for him as a racer was not stiff enough.

I have not raced on it but find it an amazing bike to ride. I’m only selling because now I own an Enigma, which is probably the last bike I will ever buy.

I’ve ridden it over many tough routes like the LBL sportive and the route of Krabbe’s The Rider (plus a couple of extra cols) and have finished every ride feeling fresh, it’s that comfortable and compliant. It performs well on cobbles too. Anyone willing to come to Croydon is welcome to try it out to see if they think it’s worth it.

This is why I’m asking a fairly high price and I’d urge folk looking for something really special and unusual to look past what are some very minor superficial imperfections.

Even writing this makes me want to keep it. This is one brilliant bike. And it looks the absolute bollocks IMO.

Thanks for all the comments so far.

  • Fucking right. This isn't for me but a mate who is looking for a first road bike was moaning about cost of new bikes that his friends have bought, all average in my opinion and significantly more than this.

And from a personal point of view give me external routing and none of that integrated stem/ bar and proprietary seat post nonsense.

Not sure if original criticism was aimed at carbon fatigue (is that a thing?).

Given that you could pay ~300 for some wanky bling roadie saddle or 600+ for something as coma inducing as a straggler (frameset only), 800 for this interesting bike seems very fair to me. GLWS

  • I like the red stuff.

  • £800 for De Rosa looks good to me too :) GLWS

  • Final price drop on this shabby piece of ten year old crap before I decide to keep it or try my luck on ebay. £750
