I'm channeling Tony Foale and building this setup just now.
Anyone else tried or have any useful input? I feel I'm going to have to defend myself a lot on this one. :) It's gonna look a bit weird.
Sliding dropouts for trail adjustment, linkage steering and a brompton sized wheel. I still need to machine up some dropouts to replace these placeholder drops - trail between 60 and 85mm currently, though this can be changed with different inserts.
More to be uploaded here.
44mm front headtube? What od of boom tube if you can call it that?
44.5mm chromo boom. 44mm ID Headtube.
I need to lathe up some ring reinforcements for the headtube, but I'm going to get it riding pretty quick. You should drop round.
I'm certainly going to ride it for a bit before attaching the second support to that boom and getting all of the cargo-bed parts lasered up.
I'm going to a lot of effort to make it look proportioned, but the bike's tiny. 1710mm overall length wheels included.
Nice. I thought about doing a 44mm front headtube on mine. I have a couple I’ve cut from frames and would have meant a normal mitre though maybe having the headtube surrounded by the boom tube is a good thing anyway.
Yeah I’ll come round see you soon. When I ever get a day off now I’m back at the day job!
