There have been quite a few interesting non-period correct carbon 'youngtimer' projects on here lately. I'd rather not keep the entry requirements too strict but I was thinking along the lines of bikes that are roughly 10 years or older and personalized in a way that sets them apart from your average period correct build. I'll start with a few of my favourite ones from the CP section. Feel free to share your own bikes or bikes you like.
@HoKe Look 381
@khalid Trek Madone
@v11boy Trek 5500 USPS
@mattyc Look 381, has this project been abandoned?
And my Time VXRS
My Look 586:
Scraping in with my 2008 Super Six
oof that's nice!
Yes! What saddle is that?
Tune Komm Vor Plus I think
Thanks! That makes sense, it kind of reminded me of a stripped speedneedle.
Old but gold: @Breso c40
The greatest ^
@darlojim, your LOOK is a candidate for this.
Yeah, I ended up passing the frameset on as I bought a Moots and so all the other projects stopped and were sold on to fund that... sadly :(
is a 2012 Parlee too modern to feature here?
Can I add my first KG381 team Kelme build with an attempt at the TDF yellow sram group -
I was thinking about that ratty cheap Colnago the other day, wishing I'd bought it back for some fun but too late now I suppose. Never saw it built up on here by the new owner
Ha, yeah me too! How’s it going @c4shr ?
That Look 381 is a belter!! 🤓 I use a Cervelo S5 from 2011 which is almost eligible but feels far too modern in this post. Good work @Sig_Arlecchino
my look 595 probably fits on here. will photograph today for criticism
That was a nice project :) Frame and stem are with someone from the forum still I believe.
Same wall, similar theme:
This frame was also sold on here recently.
@GideonPARANOID It certainly would, I should have it built back up by the weekend.
one of the very first full carbon fibre frames, kestrel and trimble, only able to post it because i've been to lazy to find a period correct seat post and therefore it's 97% period correct and can join
That kalloy seatpost is a great match for Dura Ace 7700, no need to change it imo :)
@mattyc too bad, I really like the idea of putting DI2 on it. But it's understandable that the moots takes priority.
@Carabo love your builds, great attention to detail as usual :)
Looks like a weapon... Do you know the weight? Lugged carbon frames are well fitting for a youngtimer build!
My shortest lived bike project, partsbin giant.
😐 my 2011 TCR is turning 10yo. Guess it's new road bike time.
