High Commission got back to me that they are 'having a word with' Emirates about my ninth rebooking for the 4th of November.
I don't know what this means and its almost two months away, but fingers-crossed.
Also, state Premiers and PM are meeting Friday, hopefully something good will come out of that.
Jeez are still here? Fcuk's sake I really feel for you J.
Have you considered turning this into an incredible bike ride?
It'll take you a year, but it might do that anyway at this rate.
We could crowd fund you the bike kit and some support cash, I'm sure.
Maybe you could get a refund on the flights.
If you really want to ride it I'll give you my nice mid-90's 531 Dawes Galaxy and a set of 40L Ortlieb waterproof panniers to do it with :)
The sad truth is that it leaves him a boat ride away. And boats have the same problem as planes in terms of getting people into Aus. It’s not getting to Asia that’s the problem.
Tis sadly entirely true what you say. But in the time it'd take to ride to where he could get a boat, things might have changed, and he'd definitely have had a better adventure than waiting in London.
I’d rather wait in Europe with friends than in some random Asian city alone.
Your call fella, you do you... @|³|MA3K did just say "tempting" though . I'm always up for helping people do gigantic bike rides :)
Probably the wrong time of year and frame of mind at this point though.
I'm not the outdoors type either.
Looks like there's some movement on the political front. Smug C U NEXT TUESDAY ScoMo kicking the blame down to the state governments.
Yeah read about this earlier.
Will get my hopes up when I hear what state Premiers and the airlines say, just hot air blowing down atm.
Note sure those numbers would be adequate to stop the airines pulling out as I think it ups the passengers per flight to 45 when they asked for (min) 100.
I agree, the whole federal government over there are smug shits, cause a bunch of trouble then shift blame and onus to fix on to someone else.
Sounds a bit like the current UK gov..
The whole thing is hilarious... NSW and federal governments ganging up on Queensland to open their border while Scumo happily ignores stranded Aussies across the globe... Absolute bollocks...
1000 flights per week would at least be a move in the right direction for you, John...
I think it equates to an extra few on each plane, so no real changes.
Just rung Qatar, now(hopefully) flying with them on the 18 of December.
So if Emirates on the 4th of November falls through there is another chance.
Just sick of it all.
How are you set for accommodation etc til then, you ok?
Just waiting to get evicted, burn that bridge when I cross it.
You have anyone on here who can help out on the front? Tight ship here but Aussie wife is keen to help.
You can stay with us if it happens. South of the river tho.
Between 30,000-100,000 Aussies stuck abroad. Aside from fncking up their citizens‘ lives, the Aussie Govt is leaving so much money on the table: if 1/10 of those Aussies want to get home, at say £250 a flight and £1300 for the quarantine hotel, that’s £750,000 for the struggling airlines, and £3,900,000 for Aussie hotels.
