hiya guys, just had my chainring screw's (or bolts, idk haha) getting loose (and one of them had the thread popped out), so the mechanic tightened them back again and put a new thread one. thing is, this specific one has the thread on the other side of the chainring, different than how it was before and how the rest is. is that a problem or makes no diff. at all? lastly, how often should I tighten the chainring's screws/bolts to avoid this from happening again? I ride fixies for years now and this never happened. I'd take any tips if applying some kind of glue or sealant to the screws/bolts can help prevent this as well. ta!
The word you’re looking for is Threadlock. Available from most DIY and car parts shops. However, if one particular bolt keeps coming undone, take it out clean it and examine it closely. If the thread is damaged at all, replace it.
