Are people exercising social distancing?
It's hard to tell when you may be self-isolating or just staying at home and doing social distancing by barely going out if it at all... but we have the internet and we have web cams:
By and large... yes! In London they are.
There's a few hot spots like Kensington High St and Islington / Angel where there is a light spattering of people out on the streets, but Oxford St, Covent Garden, tourist locations, Piccadilly Circus... effectively deserted with individuals spotted but not groups.
Number of flu deaths in UK.
Some reports - "Although flu might not seem like a deadly illness, on average it kills around 17,000 people in England a year" Source
British Medical Journal - Government exaggerates flu mortality again: why cannot the public be trusted with the truth? - " Bad year - 335-340 deaths"
You think I could find a day by day chart.

The stats for that come from the govt documents https://www.gov.uk/government/statistics/annual-flu-reports ... the data is correct, but the conclusion isn't.
Full fact have already explained that the severity is different because it is both more deadly, and more likely to put someone in hospital: https://fullfact.org/health/coronavirus-compare-influenza/
Can anyone confirm the 80% salary cover timeframe? How many months it’s been said to be?
If your employer cannot cover staff costs due to COVID-19, they may be able to access support to continue paying part of your wage, to avoid redundancies.
If your employer intends to access the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme, they will discuss with you becoming classified as a furloughed worker. This would mean that you are kept on your employer’s payroll, rather than being laid off.
To qualify for this scheme, you should not undertake work for them while you are furloughed. This will allow your employer to claim a grant of up to 80% of your wage for all employment costs, up to a cap of £2,500 per month.
You will remain employed while furloughed. Your employer could choose to fund the differences between this payment and your salary, but does not have to.
If your salary is reduced as a result of these changes, you may be eligible for support through the welfare system, including Universal Credit.
We intend for the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme to run for at least 3 months from 1 March 2020, but will extend if necessary.
Thanks for the info!
