  • oh. I see what you're saying...

  • Tinfoil hat:
This is how the city of London gets out of the UK, the financial centre stays here, London is a different country, Brexit doesn't happen here, big wall. Snake Pliskin Lee van Cleef.

    Makes you think.

  • My understanding was the Medway towns and north Kent areas affected initially had one of the lowest levels of adherence to the lockdown rules last time round which is what was initially blamed for the increase in cases there

  • I was also thinking a lot of people at the time were blaming non-compliance / risky behaviour for the rates of infection in Kent... maybe not much truth in that.
Edit: ha, timing of posts ^
I feel like people were looking for an explanation to the rates of infection and blaming it on behaviour since they didn't know about this more contagious strain.

  • Could also be that a 4 week lockdown with schools still open wasn’t enough. The virus had already ripped through the schools and unis in the north by then.

  • news mentioned something about the more contagious strain also being transmitted amongst 'younger population' more - didn't catch the detail - is this young like primary school age, or younger adults?

  • I guess older kids if they plan on testing all secondary school pupils?

I can't see it being anything but this. I feel very sceptical about blaming a variant strain. I feel a bit tin foil.

  • Yeah I’d agree. They thought it was non compliance and now don’t.
Wonder if you are asymptomatic longer too?

  • If they are notifying the WHO I think it’s safe to assume it’s a variant.

  • I just want to blame the brexity types.

  • Can still meet one other person in a public place. Who’s up for riding to a random park and getting smashed?

  • Am out west. Available from midnight tonight

  • Support bubbles for families with an under 1 (on 2nd December) continue.

    Full tier-4 rules at https://www.gov.uk/guidance/tier-4-stay-at-home

  • Just read that. Phew.

Think it means we’ll spend Christmas Day by ourselves (let the wife’s parents spend it with my brother in law and his wife) but that means we can continue to see them on other days which will be a relief.

  • Didn't work enough in Northern Ireland. Rates went down but not as much as in March.

Hard call to make though, not everyone can WFH/has easy family childcare access and help with homework.

  • feel like an absolute mug for following the rules all year

Sort a plan to minimise risk and see 1 person (sister) outside existing bubble at Christmas and it gets cancelled.

My sister is a nurse and gets tested twice a week, she was planning on doing a test before coming and bring a spare for me to use at a later date but I could also use it for her visit. Any risk at all in this, should I ignore rules? What would others do? am gutted for my sister more than anything she's had one hell of a year, working in a covid ICU and then vaccine research trials.

  • In general, you must not meet with another person socially or undertake any activities with another person.

I take back what I said. Stay the fuck away from me.

  • People all over my social are all going out together hugging etc.

same cunts now posting uplifting social posts about reaching out to those who might be struggling now christmas has been cancelled

    cunts

  • Looking at belgium france and spanish news non of them are mentioning a new virulent strain but are tightening travel restrictions.

  • Look on the bright side, there's 8 Belgian cyclocross races on in the next 14 days all on Eurosport/GCN.

  • I'm delighted to see we can still form a picket line.

  • I did my second test last Wednesday and got a positive test result back just now. They took their bloody time.

  • I take back what I said. Stay the fuck away from me.

    Too late. I'm behind you!
