anyone has ever visited Cyprus for cycling? if yes which areas did you visit? Me I live here half year and half year in London and I really enjoy cycling in Cyprus...
I lived in cyprus (Limassol) for a while. Cycling was good, but lots of hills and it was hard to find routes that were not one way out & back. The ride from Limassol to the top of Mount Olympus is rewarding, like an alpine climb from sea level to 2,000m. Avoid the main road and try the road via the Alyssa reservoir. A different route is bike path from Limassol east to Germansoya and then turn inland past the reservoir and up into the hills. Or a short flat run is west to the airbase and then to the beach where there are lots of nice cafes for lunch. Don’t cycle at night as I thought there was a lot of drunk driving esp at the weekend.
And also @Vangelis.Pipis
yeah is very dangerous in the night to do cycling....many people doesn't even see or give importance to cyclist unfortunately ..specially if thy are drunk...
yes Limassol is very nice...but I am in Larnaca...after airport to the west road to LImassol are very nice straight streets in the country side for cycling...
I have cycled around Cyprus for a week in January, I have attached my route. Ridden a cyclocross bike with 650x48b wheels, mostly tarmac with some gravel. The island routes are epic, looking forward to going back there for longer time. I recommend to visit especially Troodos mountains and the mountain range south of Girne in Northern Cyprus. If you have any particular questions, feel free to ask.
