Staunch short wearer here. Merino longjohns underneath when it gets frosty but otherwise by the time I'm out into the bigger roads I've forgotten I'd felt any cold in my legs.
Because they're so much more comfortable than trousers and I work inside ill often just leave them on, providing many a formulaic conversion with international students about how cold it is (in early September) yet I have my legs out.
Shorts this morning but I've lost my gloves so my hands were the same colour as my vibrator-pink handlebars.
No tights, no gloves. Are you still alive?
No thanks to the coffee in my bag that went slushy.
This is me arriving at work in -4.
Edit: was showing off that I'd worked out where you work from that photo but realised you might not want everyone to know, ha ha.
Also, I've not worn shorts for months and the cold is still destroying my knees. Jealous of people who aren't in constant discomfort in winter.
I’m riding less than 4 miles each way, hardly comparable to #messlife ... if i could find some reasonably priced merino blend base tights that were comfortable to ride in it would probably be an idea for me to invest for the mornings.
... yes the crop was deliberately discreet.
I didn't realise you'd moved jobs. Will have to pop in soon and say hi.
Yep moved a couple of weeks ago, do pop in.
Strategy today was uniqlo heat tech tights then cheapo btwin padded shorts over the top superman style and then baggy gym shorts over the top in case I get a puncture and have to get on a train without looking like kinky superman.
Merino base layer and soft shell did the trick. Pedal hard enough to overheat and it keeps your hands warm (thin gloves).
I was cynical about the uniqlo heattech "anti odour" claim but it's holding up pretty well on my top. Not as good as merino but I reckon I can get away with it for a week...
I wear shorts everyday. I work for Royal Mail. Not as a postie but in the sales office. People here are like reptiles, the office is so hot all year round and I am always hot. So its shorts everyday.
Chap commuting this morning in shorts. Temperature showed -1. Quality!!
I work as a bike courier and a guy I work with is in shorts for about 90% of the year. I'll be wrapped up in long johns, ski socks and trousers and he'll be razzing about in shorts like it's the middle of summer.
