Add a slightly less tempting route to that too, at least for some.
I have 3 different 46T chainrings on 3 different bikes I'll have you know!
I can’t see it running.
I can’t see it running.
I remember you called it right early on last year.
The chances would have been better if it finished in italy, which it might do anyway.
Yes, I thought it would have been a much better route if they had gone down Italy and finished in Calabria or Sicily rather than the long ferry to Greece. If they had kept it a bit further East it needn't have looked too like the 2VS.
Riding through France and Italy wouldn't really feel like riding across the whole Europe though, even though it's not far off.
The cps are interesting again. CP3 parcours goes here https://maps.app.goo.gl/4h91enSJtVZ5xerL7
Sure - that was why I pulled out. I did a little bit of route-planning. France section would be good but most of the Italy section would be Po valley then the road down the coast from Rimini which, in August, would be busy as.
Highlight for me was CP4 - the Appenines bit. CP3 would be wonderful on a nice day but I wouldn't want to get caught up there on the wrong bike with the wrong kit in the middle of the night in a storm. And I wasn't ecstatic about riding Roubaix cobbles with a fully loaded bike!
I don't think getting a ferry across the adriatic is much more of a rich experiance?
Much walking, much swearing
Yeah not much, but there would be a few hundred kms to ride in Greece after that, which would kind of make the finish, I think.
Only 400km so get off the ferry and ride in with no sleep!
That does sound simple. If it was a bit more than one could expect to be able to ride with no sleep, would've made it more exiting, given more opportunity for things to change after the ferry.
Talk of Greece wanting to make summer holiday access dependent on having had a vaccine.
Might give older riders a big advantage!
Or those from Sweeden, given they seem about the only ones planning to certify.
That could be brilliant; first time ever the winner also misses the finisher party time cut !
Surely everyone knew vaccine passports would be the situation coming
Not a done deal. French against it, apparently. And even Greeks don't want to limit travel to the vaccinated. But it wouldn't be a big surprise if things do go that way.
