Awesome video, so many faces and names.
Was that the event at the Waterloo Action Center?
So. Much. Win.
Today there'd be about 72 pages of discussion before the event and about 33 afterwards. Back then--a handful of comments before, nothing afterwards (at least in that thread, maybe it all happened somewhere else). :)
That was just the thread about the flyer, no?
I only searched for 'Rollapaluza' and that was the only related thread that came up from around that time. Maybe there's one with another title. Oh wait, maybe 'Rollas' or something.
Go dig, archivist!
Ah, here it is:
OK, 24 pages, not bad. :)
I miss lists.
Came 22nd in qualies then @mashton beat me head to head.
great stuff john x
ha. I just started old and stayed that way. as @dogsballs used to like to call me, Father Time
great seeing so many faces in here ragging the rollas
That was a great night. 7th in qualifying then beaten by Eddy in the first knockout. Nearly threw up outside behind a phone box.
Where was that?!
I think it was here.
I don't think I ever went that far east did I? I mean, shit, that was before GPS was invented :P
The event in the video was at the Waterloo Action Centre, as discussed in the last 20 or so posts.
The building in Ellingfort Road that MA3K links to there used to be the Carhartt warehouse/office and they put on a Rollapaluza there in 2008 as part of the Bicycle Film Festival, which I went to (before I joined the forum). Looking back through the pictures, there were a lot of forumengers there. I don't know if you were. At any rate, the event on the 15th December 2007 is linked to above.
Turns out the BFF 2008 was just *after* I'd joined the forum, but I hadn't really worked out what was happening yet:
The end of that thread is another collection of OG forumengers in their prime.
Seems like there was video too. Not suprisingly after 12 years they deadlink.
I think I remember a bunch of us leaving our bikes inside the fence and going to a pub after Rolla?
Had to climb over that tall spikey thing to pass the bikes out afterwards.
Waterloo I vaguely remember. I vaguely remember everything. Vaguely.
We had some good times in MCR: https://www.flickr.com/photos/pixel_fiddler/sets/72157615999719075/
Oh my god! These pics are amazing! Jim's even wearing his teeth! That event was a little before my time, but I know Jim still has the Carhartt jeans and hoodie he won that night 😂
