You adding anything to the fork for dyno routing? You’re doing rack bosses, right? Where are the mudguard eyes going? I’d go mid-blade, myself. Winston will do a great job, he did some great alteration to a tourer of mine. And he’s an absolutely lovely guy.
Yeah the stem was nearby so I balanced it there to see how tall the steerer was etc...
@Hulsroy yup, I’m going to ask Winston to make me a stem 👍🏻
Yeah he seemed like a cool guy when I spoke to him...
Regarding the dynamo I’m not sure, when I mentioned he said Chad wouldn’t have wanted anything to be internally routed if he could help it and suggested tabs similar to brake cable guides up the fork leg.
Also been trawling the August Instagram (there’s a Roberts in the classifieds that has work done there) and found this which look neat - not sure how much I’d want to bastardise these Roberts forks I’ve just picked up 🤷♂️
Rackwise I’m thinking just low-rider mounts and see if there is something clever I can integrate into the stem to fit a bag...
alternatively there is something like the velo orange Campeur which could potentially be modified to run dynamo cables etc...
This is basically the same as my Roberts road bike, also fillet brazed. I’ve got Columbus minimals on mine.
(Please excuse the stack - it’s due to go once I organise a custom steel stem)
Lovely looking build.
It's inspired me to get out on my Roberts as soon as I can.
Fastest bike I own. I get everywhere quickly but sweaty. (It's a lo pro with TT bull horns, 4.5 Scoble bricks and a big ass chain ring)
Very nice - are you going to ask Winston for a stem? 👍🏻👍🏻
I probably will at some point, the current set up has been perfectly adequate for the last 5 years, so I'm in no rush!
Looking forward to seeing your built up, I like the Roberts fork!
cheers - what length would you need? want me to ask if we get a discount for a pair?
also wanted to add some links as a reminder to myself -
Nabbed some straight blade carbon forks off another frame - don’t look as good as I’d thought they would, glad I picked up the steel ones!
Called Winston the other day and ordered a 1” threadless steerer, going to drop the forks off with him at some point this/next week and talk braze-ons and stem options 👍🏻
I think the Colnago forks look cool, and they wouldn't need paint matching :D
