I'm down in London for a few days at a conference with work & am staying in a different hotel for my last night (Friday) so I can stay around for the Dunwich Dynamo. I've obviously got my bike with me, but it feels a bit flash to lock up on the street for the day while I'm in the conference while I swap hotels.
I've got two locks & a cable, but still don't feel comfortable leaving it out on the street. Does anyone know of anywhere secure I can leave my bike in Islington for the day? Happy to pay for peace of mind.
You can put it in our garden near Caledonian Rd tube for a can of beer...
You could leave it in our bike room in near E10 if you like.
I wouldn't want to leave a bike out either.
Cheers for the kind offers, @Backstop & @|³|MA3K . Going to walk over to Evans at Kings Cross later & investigate their situation, might take one of you up if I can't use that.
The luggage room (still locked up, preferably to something immovable) at one of the hotels?
I can keep my bike in my hotel room in both hotels (am currently), but my current hotel is in Kensington & Friday night's is in Stratford & the conference is slap bang in the middle in Islington - not ideal. Will see if I can get earlier access to the hotel.
Probably should've thought about this a bit more before coming down. I live Leeds & wouldn't be too bothered about locking this bike up in the city centre with two locks for a day, but walking/riding around London I've seen a lot of bike carcasses with pieces scavenged still locked up around & I don't feel comfortable!
Conference venue may have a room? Hope you find somewhere, know how you feel!
My place is on the DD route, 5KMs from the start plus there is a direct bus to the Design Centre (which is where I am guessing your conference is).
I have a studio in Haggerston your welcome to leave it there but I go to work at 7am and return at 7pm if that suits, two stops from Highbury & Islington
Might be worth getting in touch with MiCycle on Barnsbury Street? They’re pretty friendly, and might hold onto it for a day if you explain your situation.
Wow, been blown away by the response here - truly the internet's friendliest forum!
Thanks everyone for your suggestions & offers. In the end, I've ended up using Evans Kings Cross since they have a secure-ish bike room around the back of the workshop (need to walk through the shop to get to it) & it's worked out well.
