• “Cycle into work” employability programme 2019
    In partnership with Lovebox

Bikeworks is a pan London social enterprise that specialises in inclusive cycling hubs and training and employment programmes in order to move those furthest away from the labour market back into work via vocational accredited training.

Working with local community groups Bikeworks are looking at putting a minimum of 10 West London residents onto a 10 day course that will be run from Bikeworks Maxilla training centre in Ladbroke grove. These local people will be non-working at looking at retaining in order to move into employment. Bikeworks commercial partner in the programme is e-cargo bikes, a pan London cargo bike delivery company working with clients such as COOP and Sainbury’s. A London living wage employer and non-zero hours contract provider this company can guarantee all Bikeworks students an interview with a very high expectation of being offered a job after the programme.

This is a sector that is growing quickly and e-cargo bikes are a leading SME at the front working with big name clients for last mile delivery via cargo bicycle. Anyone offered employment will be supported in order to make sure they transition into part or full time employment depending on needs and availability. This is a great opportunity to build a sustainable route into employment.

Taster sessions late June / early July.

We are looking to deliver 3 taster sessions in between now and early July in order to recruit for the “cycle into work” employment programme. Focussing on the London boroughs of Ealing, Hounslow and Chiswick we plan to use local community hubs to invite potential candidates to a half day soft skill training and inorder to get more information regarding the employment programme. During these sessions Bikeworks tutors will teach a basic maintenance course and be offering free bike health checks to local residents.

NB: There may be an option to recruit some but not all to Bikeworks bike recycling programme that will be able to give a free bike for those that do have their own one.
