Rockshox Recon (not remote) and the lockout isn't working (when dial turned to lock it's stiffer than when not locked but still loads of travel and, well, not locked). The lock out dial turn/clicks as it should. New bike my brother picked up for my mrs and I collected it from him. Does it simply, despite clearly (well seemingly, a 2017 bike with very light signs of use) need a full service? If so any idea on to what degree? ie is there some basics I can do myself or might it need a complete overhaul?
Have you put the correct amount of air pressure in it for the rider’s weight?
I have; there was very little air in so I emptied forks of air and then refilled but lockout still as before
If the lock out feels no different to the unlocked position then there is a problem somewhere.
If it feels significantly stiffer but still travels then it’s probably ok because a full hydraulic lock is stupid
It's probably only twice as firm (tops) - ie half the travel - when the lock is turned on.
That’s fine it’s a platform not a lock, full lock is dumb / dangerous
Might it have something to do with the absent rebound adjustment knob??
Rebound is the bottom of the DS lower leg IIRC. The knob comes out if you give it a good pull, so yeah, it might be missing.
It won't affect the lock though.
You say it's a new bike - was it sitting around in a warehouse for 2-3 years?
It is missing and wondered if it might in some way be linked. Will replace they anyway and then cycle the forks at the suggestion of LBS I was passing and see if some life's breathed into them; as you suggested though, and as my LBS says; as there's some resistance just get the Mrs out riding it.
