  • Oh god, I bonked and got hopelessly lost on the way home from Hemel last time. I crawled through a deserted industrial estate, across some sports fields and saw this shadow looming towards me at 1am...

  • yes, that is a life-size pirate, with sword, on a beach..

  • Wow that sounds bad

  • Matt??

    That you, buddy??

  • This was really great last year.

  • Me, Ben and Clement are doing the Herts So Good 200km audax on Monday. The pros are a free reflective mudguard sticker and cloth patch, the delights of audax on a bank holiday Monday and some great company lols and stuff. The cons are none. Treat it like a sort of short-notice TNRC daylight deluxe if you so wish. They're running out of places so get on it if you wanna join! 8am start and easy peasy Metropolitan line train from Kings X to the start. Hugs and kisses.

    Ben, Clement and I.

  • You’re busy, then?

  • He’s right though

  • I’m dyslexic ok! Dyslexic and ginger. As if I don’t get this enough without my bike friends picking on me for it. And the sun. Which burns.

  • Welcome, one & all, to the Glory that is Ruislip!

  • It wasn't me, honest, I would have added the accent aigu on Clément. :)

(It's only my assumption that that's how his name is spelled, though, so it may well be wrong.)

  • Matt?? That you, buddy??

Haha, it's uncanny - and it's only after googling 'North London pirates' a year later that I've realised I had stumbled into a swashbuckling themed crazy golf course!

Balls, this looks really good, and I had a half-baked plan to skip the start/finish and ride out to it backwards to meet you for the remaining ride back to town but sadly my Monday has been unexpectedly IKEA/Opera'd.

The pros are a free reflective mudguard sticker and cloth patch..

Needless to say, I look forward to seeing the pics of you all touching cloth at the end.

  • Let’s say Welwyn, I think I’ll be a bit tired so easier is better. I’ll put the thread up soon.

  • Actually I changed my mind, let’s ride Potters Bar. We’re live: https://www.lfgss.com/events/4798/

  • Due to potentially disastrous weather and multiple defections, this ride ^ has now been changed to an off-week ride, happening on the 16th of May. Thread and and details remain the same.

  • Any route suggestions for this Thursday's outing?

Weather looking balmy so was thinking sunset descent of Knatt's valley would be nice...

  • Yes. Do you want to put up a thread? Or I can do it later this evening.

  • As it's now less than a month away anyone got any interest in an overnighter to Avebury on the solstice (Thursday 20th June)? I've not done it before but I'm keen.

Just looking at trains and a train back from Swindon is still £16.50 at the moment, I think I'd take the Friday off work but for anyone who's either a masochist or can get away with a very slow Friday there's trains leaving Swindon at 7.30 and getting into Paddington at 8.30.

  • Sign me up for a tnrc special to the stones. I don’t mind taking the Friday off either!
