Moving from 32 to 34 on cassette, need new chain?

Posted on
  • As the title suggests, I just got the Shimano 11-34 cassette and looking to replace an old 11-32 cassette. Will I need to install a new chain, or will the current length chain suffice?

  • Something like half a link difference so no. Test big-big combo unless you just have 1 ring. Just check the cage angle and make sure its not going to kill you with fire and spokes

  • New chain is always worth it if your old cassette is a bit worn and the new one is new-new. Why wouldn’t you?

  • Bit of a cheapskate, but yeah, new chain probably in order.

  • Cheers, noted for future random questions. :)
