Scapin Dyesys Steel & Carbon Frameset

  • Hi All

Just building up this bike for what is going to be a winter bike but I’m loving it so much may be too good for bad weather 🤣

It’s a Scapin Dyesys in Columbus Spirit Steel but Seatpost and Head Tube are Carbon.

It’s going to be shod with DA9000 and has DA9000 Open Pros on too.

I need a pair of cages and the weird thing is the seat tube bosses are right are either side of the band on front Mech.

What cages would you recommend as I know they do some that have the middle section missing so would bridge the band if that makes sense?

Also what material as it’s quite old school looking?

    Cheers

    Dave

  • You’re right - that’s far too nice for a winter build.

What frame size is it? Looks tiny but that might be a compact geo illusion.

  • It’s a Medium sloping geometry so around 55cm effective TT.

It’s also the angle I took pic in as quite close as it’s residing in the lounge much to my wife’s disdain 🤣

  • For your bottle cages you simply need slightly longer bolts and spacers between the frame and the cages. It's pretty common actually.

  • Great frame. It's got a carbon seat tube and it'll be some top-of-the-range Columbus steel, probably Spirit. Deserves a decent build.

  • I order some cage spacers so that’s good thanks for the tip!

It is indeed Columbus Spirit tubing and now built with DA9000, DA9000 Open Pros and Deda Finishing Kit.

Just bar tape, chain and cabling to finish and she’s good to go!

  • Nice, that red stem logo looks a bit out of place. Will it come off with some nail polish remover?

  • Toe nails could do with a trim also.

  • Ha ha

True re both - I’ve just spent week in hospital with intestinal infection so least of my worries!

There is quite a bit of red on the frame which probably isn’t clear on pics.

I’ll add pics of the red bits but may strip the decal off the stem.

Blue lizard skin bar tape will also finish it off nicely.

  • tight build !

  • Belting! How much did the frame set you back? They're sometimes available on ebay but I've never found one in quite the right size.

  • I probably overpaid but I have a collection of Scapin’s so had to have it!

It was on eBay and cost me a little over £800 incl postage 🙈

Like I said I had to have it and don’t plan on selling it anytime soon.

  • Yeh, a fair wedge, worth it though! Would look good with some carbon Campagnolo parts on it.

  • I’m more of shimano user these days but I do have a new Campy Potenza Silver groupset that I considered popping onto this.

Campy Carbon would accentuate the carbon in the frame though I do agree
