I have decided what I will be riding at L'eroica this year, so am about to commence on 6 months or so of fettling.
I would be interested in seeing what other people are up to, so please post your L'eroica bike here.
Anyway, I will be riding a 1962 Jack Taylor. It's the same age as me, but looks to be in considerably better condition.
I am about to dismantle it and clean and polish the frame. I will then clean & de-grease the components.
I expect I will change the drive train, and somehow I need to add lightness. The thing weighs a bloody ton.
That looks a lovely bike! Beautiful condition. I am in the process of rebuilding a 1947 Hobbs of Barbican Superbe for Eroica Britannia this year but it may not be finished in time. If it isn't ready then I'll be riding my Hobbs of Barbican Raceweight as below. I will be very jealous of all your gears!
Don't ride it on those skinny tyres though, not if it's the same route as last year and you want to get round without destroying your rims/tyres/backside& knees.
Some of the route is rather bumpy to say the least....
I did ride it last year but not with those tyres/wheels. I'm sure I read that the routes have been altered this year after complaints last year. I hope so as my other Hobbs will have similar wheels albeit with slightly wider tyres, if I manage to finish it in time.
Is Eroica on this year? It all seems a bit ambiguous. Great event in 2018. I rented an old George Elworthy bike for the ride which was lovely but expensive. I would be interested in buying something interesting for around £450. I am 6'2" with 34" inside leg so a reasonably large beast is required.
I’m hoping to do it on my Mercian, king of mercia.
Just waiting on some brake levers / hoods then need to get some cables.
It would seem so, though dates and location have to be confirmed. Still in the Peak District though, which is nice, as I live a stone's throw away.
I still have this:
I'm interested! Please can you send driveside photos with close-ups of chainset, derailleurs, and brakes. Is it rideable now or is work required just to get going?
