Condor barrachi 853 frames anyone? Condor sizing?

Posted on
  • Hi guys just bought myself a condor 853 barrachi frameset. Planning on a respray and new build however just realised the top tube is 57cm! The seat post is 55cm was this normal for condor? Was it likely a time trailing frame? Anyone want to sell me a smaller 853!!! I really like it but not sure it'll fit. Looking to build a bike for life and need it to be spot on. I'd appreciate your thoughts please cheers Jon

  • Compare stack and reach of your current frame with stack and reach for the proposed new frame.

  • Thanks James i have a few bikes and have been comparing them alongside. The angle of the head tube is pretty steep so hoping this will help a little. It's close to my giant tcr advanced (m/l) but a touch longer. I will look to get short drop bars and a 90mm stem. Just unusual to have a top tube that much longer than the seat post in my experience. Thanks for your thoughts. I might stick wheels a post and bars just to try to get a feel. Don't want to go to all that effort. I have really taken to the frame it's a bit unusual

  • First question is the seat tube 55cm CTC or CTT? Second question is the top tube horizontal or sloping?
I ask because if the top tube really is 2cm longer than the seat tube then either this is a frame custom built for someone with these dimensions or it’s an older 70’s design when long top tubes were the fashion.
If it’s 55cm CTC then it’s around a 57cm CTT which is about right for a modern OTP frame.
If it’s a sloping top tube then you need to measure the effective TT length rather than the actual length.
I would be surprised if Condor screwed up frame dimensions

  • Don’t do a visual comparison

Find stack and reach data and compare

  • Thanks guys doing some proper testing on sizing at the shop tomorrow all being well. Yoav as you say 55 ctc and 57 ctc. Thank for your thoughts I'll share how tomorrow goes. Just I've never had a frame that size I all the years it surprised me.

  • Ive got an 70s Barrachi and the guys at Condor told me it was a TT frame when i asked for some details. I assume all Barrachis are TH bike/frames.

  • The Baracchi name has been used over the years by Condor for a number of different frames. You could always ask them about your frame, of course. 853 wasn’t around in the 70’s.

  • Thanks guys missed your posts on this one. Hoping to pop wheels bars and post etc tonight to gauge I fear it maybe back up for sale though 😣
