• Given the amount of 160mm travel bikes at Peaslake

Don't think I've bottomed out at Peaslake with 140/120, and @Dammit didn't look to be struggling on his XC bike. I haven't ridden anything where I felt under biked, and if you look at the bikes that have won EWS races they're not always enduro bikes.

    Horses for courses!

  • add more psi

I thought you just maxed out the shock pump?

  • 12 tokes don't leave much space for air

That bike was 115/120 IIRC. Either Pace feels more comfortable there, but may well be no faster - but I've only ridden them in the winter there so no real comparison.

  • one pump straight to 500psi?

  • non 27.2 seatposts

Might struggle with that on modern mtbs

  • That was referring to what I have bought, which is most road stuff. But it essentially boils down to 'no weird shit that I won't be able to get replacements for in 5 years'

  • no weird shit that I won't be able to get replacements for in 5 years

    On a mountain bike?!

  • Better wait for superboost to take hold then.

  • I'm not strong enough to get one full pump in

  • Alive & well, and being ridden by Elvis

  • I may be fat from eating PB&J sandwiches on the toilet but how dare you insinuate I shake my hips so provocatively.

  • how dare you insinuate I shake my hips so provocatively

I thought that was due to all the saddle sores

  • That's just what I tell twitter

  • That Cotic on ebay was removed. Guess they sold it elsewhere.

This listing was ended by the seller because the item is no longer available.

  • I suspect you are going to end up buying what you can find for sale, with bikes being so scarce currently. How tall are you- 5’10”?

  • Yeah about that.

I always quoted 180/5'10" that but got measured somewhere recently (hospital?) and found I was doing myself out of a whole cm so I think it's 181 / 5'11"

  • Pace have size Large RC 627's available, they're designed for 130-150mm fork travel so you could for e.g. get a Helm and run it at 130, giving you the option to turn up the Gnar dial if you're heading to more challenging terrain.

  • If I find more challenging terrain I will just be doing more walking :)

This thing needs to be a 'daily driver' bike. I don't want too much boing for my buck :)

What happens to handling when you stick a shorter fork on one of those?

  • Well, it's designed for anything between 130-150, going shorter is going to make the head angle sharper than intended, lower the BB below where it's meant to be etc.

130 is not exactly triple-clamp fork territory, it's only 10mm up on a SID, which is an XC fork.

  • Anything less than 180mm is XC/trail these days

  • I think there’s a fair gap between XC and trail, if you look at the centre of the range for each. I’d put XC at 100mm, Trail at 140, Enduro at 170, DH at 200. Then for e.g. you get the slightly burlier XC bikes at around 120 and the short travel trail bikes at 130.

In a year add 10mm to everything.

  • Then for e.g. you get the slightly burlier XC bikes

It's ok, you can say downcountry now
