As we all have access to a great number of free and paid for galleries, all over the country/ world, I thought it would be nice to have a central place to suggest, discuss or critique them.
I am hoping to go to the Basquiat display at Barbican on Friday, anyone been?
I haven't been to the Barbican show, but did see his retrospective in Paris in 2010, which was amazing.
Great idea for a thread, I'm forever finding out about little exhibitions here and there once its too late.
off the top of my head:
john akomfrah at barbican curve is excellent (free)
dali/duchamp at royal academy is excellent (paid)
tate tanks video installations at the moment are excellent (free)
thomas ruff at whitechapel gallery should be excellent (paid)
The Basquiat show is good. It’s nowhere near as comprehensive as the retrospective in Paris but well worth a visit.
I haven't been yet but the Thomas Ruff exhibition at the Whitechapel Gallery looks good
The exhibitions at 180 the strand are great as usual, the ryoji ikeda installation is one of my favourite things I've seen all year.
Has anyone been to the Manga exhibition at the British Museum?
Was considering it, but £20 for something I only have a passing interest in (and another £20 for ladywife who has less interest) seems an expensive afternoon.
Kaws has an exhibition opening in October for a very short period.
I’m not familiar with Kaws, is the exhibition worth a visit?
I'm showing and selling mine and my partner's creations this weekend as part of the Peckham Festival.
Location Copeland and Bussey Park
I went to the Kaws exhibition, it's tiny.
2 sculptures and maybe 10 paintings (that were all very similar)
I liked it, and would love to see a bigger, full show.
If your over Piccadilly I'd say check it out (Skartstedt gallery)
Tickets are free, I had them, turned up, security asked if I had tickets, but didn't check them, so you could probably chance it. They just don't like too many people in the relatively small space.
Museum Of London -
Clash exhibition focusing on London Calling album, Not been but looks like it could be worth a visit -
