Lee Valley - 285mm BB height

Posted on
  • Hey guys, I am going through the accreditation process at LVV and looking to build up a track bike. I know they have a regulation of 285mm BB height and whilst I can use my best estimations (given tyre profile depths and BB drop dimensions), I'm not sure how strict they are?

Does anyone have any real world BB height dimensions of popular track frames using 21-23mm tyres?

    Thanks

  • I have never seen a bike be measured, and if you get something that is sold as a track frame, you will almost certainly never be questioned about it...

  • Awesome thanks - was looking at a Vigo or All City Thunderdome and I've definitely seen a Cinelli there, although they list the BB drop as 58mm which technically falls short!

Depending on tyre choice and pressure.

In 5 years of working at Glasgow velodrome, I've measured one bike, which I really didn't need to since the pedals were almost hitting the track on the straights (some kind of Isaac convertible tt frame that was sold wit a couple different sets of dropouts but that was horrendously unsuitable for the track).

TLDR: don't take the piss and you'll be fine.

  • Hey, thanks! Gonna go for the Vigo I think!
