Longtime lurker, first time caller..got a new bike recently and been half eyeing up the velodrome over at Parkhead, but due to lack of current fitness (was bikeless for 2 months at the start of summer) and general fear of organized sport, recently discovered the "velodrome" down at Bellahouston park..
Been cycling down to the park (fairly close to where I stay) fairly regularly for the last 6 months as it's usually pretty quiet and has decent sufacing and a nice combo of hills and flats..but only realised it had the "velodrome" after a google search the other day.
Anyway, went down to see it, and it is indeed quite pish but planning on going down a few times a week to fuck about and start semi working on lap times and that. Didn't really want to do an event for it, but if anyone fancies a few beers and pitiful banking on corners give us a shout here..!
I reckon that'd make quite a good fixed beer. We are sorted with Stewarton this week but maybe the week after?
Week after sounds good, nice one.
Last few fixed beers have been on Thursdays but I'm working that Thurs, if it was on the Tuesday can you make it?
Prrrrrrrrrrrrobably - away to a festival in Oxfordshire or some shit this fri-sun/mon and driving both ways, so should be good unless I overindulge to the point of silliness, which is looking about 50/50 at the moment.
If we're keeping it South could head to ally arms or rum shack afterwards maybe?
Hi, just getting into the whole fixed gear thing and started building mine out of an old raleigh. Might pop down to this.
Ive created an event on Facebook for this.
Tuesday 8th August. Meet Big Slope at 7, roll out to Belladrome then back to Park Circus for more high-jinks/crashing/drinking etc.
If you don't already, give Glasgow Bike Umbrella a follow.
Amazing, good jeorb!
ah shame i missed this. High jinx at park circus sounds good. Strava tells me I'm still the fastest round the park circus 'velodrome'. Probably my greatest achievement...
